2026–27 vs 2025–26 tax rates on your taxable income

Free browser tool: type a taxable income and compare ATO resident tax rates for 2026–27 vs 2025–26 — tax amount, year-on-year difference, and which bracket you fall in. A dated Nepal Rastra Bank AUD→NPR rate is shown as a rough rupee scale for the amount left after that income tax.

Important: this is a tax-rate comparison, not a tax calculator

General information only. Not tax, financial, migration or legal advice. The figures apply the resident tax-rate tables to the number you enter. They are not an ATO assessment, not PAYG withholding, and not what will land in your bank account. For your own situation, use the ATO’s tools or a registered tax agent.

It does not include:

  • the Medicare levy (except an optional, illustrative flat 2% line), Medicare levy low-income reductions or exemptions, or the Medicare levy surcharge;
  • tax offsets, such as the low income tax offset (LITO) or the seniors and pensioners offset;
  • HELP / HECS or other study-loan repayments;
  • deductions, salary sacrifice, super, foreign income or capital-gains rules — taxable income is not the same as salary.

Residents only: people who are Australian residents for tax purposes for the whole year, aged 18 or over. Non-resident, working holiday maker, part-year and under-18 rates are different and are not covered.

Exchange rate: the NPR lines use the Nepal Rastra Bank indicative open-market AUD rate dated 7 October 2026. Banks and money-transfer services quote different rates and charge fees. This is a scale, not a quote.

Compare

Whole dollars; cents are ignored. Commas and a $ sign are fine. Up to 100,000,000.

Illustration only: 2% of the whole amount. The real levy is reduced or nil for many lower incomes, some people are exempt, and the surcharge is separate. None of that is applied here.

Result

NPR lines multiply the Australian dollars left after the income tax shown by the Nepal Rastra Bank open-market buy and sell rates for 1 AUD. They ignore fees and the rate any bank or transfer service would actually give you.

The only change between the two years is the rate on income from $18,201 to $45,000 (16% → 15%). So the 2026–27 income tax is lower by 1% of income in that band, up to $268 for any taxable income of $45,000 or more.
